Calling Channels Explained
The amount of calling channels (or trunks) you have, defines how many calls you can make or receive at one time. Think of them as phone lines.
Hero Internet provides a complementary calling channel on every account and an additional channel for each phone number added. These channels are shared across the entire account.
Example: 5 phone numbers = 6 calling channels in total.
Free extensions do not add to the channel count. If required, additional channels can be purchased for $2 each.
Free Extensions explained
Hero Internet offers extensions at no additional cost. Extensions are internal numbers that can only be dialed within your local phone system.
Extensions do not come with a Direct Inward Dial (DID) number and do not count toward your account’s calling channel limit.
Extensions can be used within an IVR (Interactive Voice Response) system or call queue, and can also be linked to a DID on your account, enabling calls to and from the public switched telephone network (PSTN).
Cloud Line explained
A Cloud Line is a phone number that comes with ALL Cloud PBX features, including Voicemail.
Each Cloud Line adds one calling channel to your account.
DDI lines explained
A DDI Line is a phone number that does not include Cloud PBX features. These are typically used for connecting to PBX's.
DDI lines do provide some limited features including:
- Caller ID
- Call Forwarding
- Time Schedules
DDI Lines do not add any calling channels to your account.
